Yout trekking adventure begins in Manali, a lively hill town renowned for its stunning
landscapes. From here, a scenic drive to Jobra-your trek’s starting point-takes you through 40
thrilling hairpin bends, unveiling breathtaking views of Kullu Valley. The route winds through
dense pine forests, apple orchards, and along the pristine Rani Nallah river, making the journey
itself a memorable experience.
At 9,800 feet, Jobra serves as the base camp for the Hampta Pass trek. Its higher altitude
compared to Manali allows for gradual acclimatization. After a quick briefing by your trek leader
and a few warm-up exercises, you set off on the trail toward Chika (10,100 ft).
The trek begins at the Allain Guhugal Hydel Project junction. As you step off the main road, you
enter an enchanting pine forest, where maple, birch, deodar, and oak trees create a lush green
canopy. The trail is gentle and pleasant, allowing you to soak in the tranquility of nature. As you
progress, the dense forest opens up into a breathtaking meadow, dotted with scattered rocks
and vibrant greenery.
About 20 minutes into the trek, you reach a scenic bend offering a postcard-perfect view of the
vast meadow below. Here, the Rani Nallah river makes its grand appearance, meandering
gracefully through the valley, adding to the charm of the landscape.
As you move forward, you can choose between two paths:
1.Walk through the meadow, following the river’s course.
2.Take an easier route—climbing the left-hand hill before descending into Chika.
The second route offers sweeping panoramic views of the meadow, making it a preferred choice
for many trekkers. Upon reaching Chika, you’ll find a vast, green expanse, ideal for setting up
camp. The gentle sound of the Rani River flowing through the valley creates a serene and
soothing ambiance.
Grazing horses dot the landscape, enhancing the fairytale-like setting. As the sun sets, capture
some stunning photographs of the picturesque valley before indulging in a warm, hearty dinner
under a star-lit sky.
Spend the night in tents at Chika, immersed in the tranquility of the Himalayas.
